The Role of Humor in Contemporary Art
The Mori Art Museum hosted an exhibition looking at the role of of humor in international contemporary art. Roi Vaara, performance artist from Finland, participated in the exhibition. Dates: January 27 - May 6, 2007.

FINLAND MUSIC DAYS 2007
The annual festival for Finnish popular music was held in Tokyo during the last weeks of May (May 19th – May 31st). The event included business to business meetings and seminars for Japanese and Finnish music organizations as well as showcases, also opened to the public, with many highly appreciated bands from Finland.
Few bands to mention:
Apocalyptica, Stratovarius,The Crash, von Hertzen Brothers
Finntroll, Alamaailman Vasarat, Memnon, Niklas Winter Quartet and Jukka Eskola.

Main organizers for the event were the Finnish Music Information Center Fimic, Music Export Finland MUSEX and the Finnish Institute in Japan.
FINLAND AND JAPAN STARTED
A RESIDENCY PROGRAMME
FOR CHOREOGRAPHERS
The Finnish Institute in Japan, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No. 1 and Finnish Dance Information Centre have started a joint residency programme for young choreographers. The programme includes a residency period and working facilities for selected choreographers in both countries.
The programme began in July 2007 at Full Moon Dance Festival in Finland with Maki Morishita (Japan) working with a goup of Finnish dancers.
The second part of the programme took place in Yokohama. Vera Nevanlinna's (Finland) "Ääressä" was performed on 7, 8 and 9 Dec 2007 in Yokohama.
The performances included also solo dance performances by Vera Nevanlinna and Maki Morishita.
FINNISH MUSIC AT SUMMER SONIC 2007!
Don Johnson Big Band from Finland performed at the biggest summer festival in Japan, Summer Sonic 2007. The festival took place on August 11 and 12 in Tokyo and Osaka.

EEVA MUILU DANCES HER "VERMICULUS"
IN RITTO AND SENDAI
Eeva Muilu is one of the most talented young choreographers in Finland. She attended the JCDN “We’re Gonna Go Dancing!” festival on Dec 16 and 18, 2007 in Ritto and Sendai. She danced her own internationally acclaimed solo work “Vermiculus”.
Eeva Muilu gave also a creative contemporary dance workshop at the Session House, Tokyo, on Dec 10 - 12, 2007.
