The Finnish Institute in Japan actively promotes contemporary Finnish culture and arts in Japan.
The institute’s task is to bring artists, producers and organizers together by providing information and by establishing contacts between them.
All the events are carried out as joint efforts with local partners. The institute can offer information on various possibilities for project financing.
In recent years the institute has assisted projects in visual arts, photography, film, design, contemporary dance and music. It has arranged visitor programs in Japan for Finnish professionals of different art fields.
The institute works actively to facilitate artists’ possibilities for exchange by providing information on artist-in-residence programs in Japan and Finland.
The institute also maintains a reference library of Finnish music and film. The library can be visited by appointment.
