FAQ
I am an artist and would like to arrange an exhibition in Japan. Can you help me finding an exhibition space?

The institute does not have an exhibition space of its own and therefore all the events are arranged in co-operation with Japanese organisers. The institute’s role is to introduce Finnish artists to Japanese curators, museums and galleries who then respectively decide which artists they want to show. The best way to proceed is to send your material to us which we can then present to our Japanese contacts. We can also give you direct contact information of art spaces and curators.

I am a researcher and planning a trip to Japan. Can you organize my program?

Depending on your field we can give you contacts through which you can find your way in Japan. We cannot, however, take responsibility for organizing your whole program. Please remember that we do not necessarily have the right contacts on all fields, especially if your field is very specific.

I am writing my master’s thesis with a focus on Japan. Can you fund my work?

The Finnish Institute is not a funding organization and we do not issue stipends or scholarships for travel or study. Please find information on funding Japan related studies through Embassy of Japan in Helsinki

I would like to do an internship at the institute. Is that possible and who should I contact?

The institute’s trainees are chosen through Centre of International Mobility CIMO. Please visit their website for more information.(http://www.cimo.fi/Resource.phx/cimo/kv-harjoittelu/kv-harjoittelu.htx)
