Feel Finland

So far the biggest project the institute has realized is the Feel Finland 2003 whereby Finnish culture was introduced in Japan more extensively than ever before. Feel Finland was realized in co-operation with Embassy of Finland. Twenty events produced by Japanese-Finnish co-operation in arts and sciences gathered tens of thousands of people and the campaign got extensive media attention both in Japan and Finland. Close to 100 000 people visited the Feel Finland website. Please find out more at www.feelfinland.jp/e/

F-Notes – New Music from Finland

F-Notes series presented contemporary Finnish music in Tokyo. It consisted of concerts, workshops and lectures featuring Avanti! chamber orchestra, Tempera Quartet, Laura Mikkola and Marko Ylönen. F-Notes brought to Japan also composers Magnus Lindberg and Lotta Wennäkoski. The series started in August 2003 and ended in May 2004.

Japan Programs for Finnish Professionals of Culture

During 2000-2002 the institute arranged five expert programs in Japan for Finnish professionals of culture. The Finnish groups represented photography, moving image, visual art, music and contemporary dance. The ten-day programs were designed to meet each group's professional interests and included meetings with Japanese counterparts, colleagues and other relevant contacts. All programs were carried out successfully and have led to many concrete and ongoing co-operation projects.
