Research and Development Unit at the Finnish Wellbeing Center (FWBC), Sendai
The Finnish Wellbeing Center is an elderly care unit, located in the city of Sendai, northern Japan. The care unit is being built in co-operation with several parties from Finland and Japan. Adjacent to the care unit there is a research and development unit to be completed. The project is coordinated by the Finnish Trade Office Finpro.
The Wellbeing Center offers long-term
institutional care for 100 clients and short-term care for 20
older persons. In addition, there are premises for day care and
certain other facilities e.g. rehabilitation, physiotherapy and
oral care. The activities of the Center are based on the Finnish
type concept of care.
The Institute takes part in the development
of the Research and Development unit of FWBC. The purpose of the
R&D Unit is to serve as a base for Japanese-Finnish scientific
research and development projects and for further business development
efforts by Japanese and Finnish welfare companies. The main contextual
themes of the R&D activities will be ageing society, services
for older persons, including well-being technologies, and gerontology
(ageing as a process and as a problem).
